ClickUp is an all-in-one work-management workspace. It bundles tasks, docs, chat, calendars, dashboards, whiteboards, time tracking, goals, automations, integrations, and AI into one operating system for team work.

The June 25, 2026 refresh keeps the old pricing story mostly stable, but changes the buyer read. ClickUp is no longer just “tasks plus ClickUp Brain.” The current product story is Brain 2, Brain MAX apps, Super Agents, Everything AI, public-beta MCP, AI Super Credits, and workspace-context AI that can answer, write, search, create tasks, build workflows, and act through ClickUp permissions.

What Changed Since The Last Refresh

• Core workspace pricing stayed stable. Unlimited remains $7/user/month billed yearly, Business remains $12/user/month billed yearly, and Enterprise remains custom.
• AI pricing needs clearer separation. Brain AI remains $9/user/month on annual billing or $18 monthly, and Everything AI remains $28/user/month on annual billing or $68 monthly. The separate Brain pricing page also lists flexible add-ons: AI Super Credits at $10 per 10K credits, Talk to Text at $9/user/month, and AI Notetaker from $12 for 60 hours/month.
• Brain 2 is now the center of the story. ClickUp help says Brain 2 completes workflows end to end, uses persistent memory and personal preferences, builds slides/dashboards/prototypes from real work data, creates Super Agents, supports external MCP server connections, does deep research, and can read/write/search Gmail and Slack.
• Brain MAX matters. ClickUp now positions Brain MAX desktop, mobile, and BrainGPT Chrome extension as dedicated apps for working directly with Brain outside the normal web app.
• Super Agents moved from marketing claim to operating risk. Super Agents can be created, triggered, managed, and permissioned by members/admins/owners, and their AI Super Credit use varies by complexity.
• MCP is now a first-party surface. ClickUp’s developer docs describe a public-beta MCP server available on all plans, with setup paths for Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Devin, Microsoft Copilot Studio, VS Code, Windsurf, ChatGPT, Antigravity, and other clients.
• AI Super Credit math is now the cost watch-out. Credits renew monthly, do not roll over, cost $0.001 each, and can be consumed by AI Fields, AI Assign/Prioritize, image generation, Autopilot Agents, and Super Agents.
• Governance is more important than the demo. Buyers must review role access, Super Agent permissions, fair-use limits, workspace upgrade requirements, MCP authentication, and who can trigger agents before rolling out AI broadly.

What It Actually Is

ClickUp is the “put the work graph in one place” product. Tasks, docs, chats, comments, files, dashboards, goals, and automations all become one permissioned workspace. That is the reason its AI story is stronger than a generic chatbot: Brain can use live work context instead of only files a user uploads.

The tradeoff is complexity. ClickUp’s Workspace, Space, Folder, List, Task, Doc, Chat, and permission hierarchy needs deliberate design. Teams that start with every feature at once often create noisy dashboards, vague statuses, and automations nobody trusts. Teams that start with one workflow, one naming system, and one admin owner get more value.

Important billing watch-outs:

• To upgrade ClickUp, the pricing FAQ says you upgrade the entire Workspace.
• AI usage is subject to fair-use terms, and ClickUp’s help docs say Brain AI limits may change as usage and costs are assessed.
• AI Super Credits renew monthly and do not roll over.
• Super Agents can cost around 100 to 300 credits per use depending on complexity, while AI Fields, AI Assign, and AI Prioritize examples are listed at 10 credits and image generation at 100 credits.
• Building a Super Agent does not consume credits. Running the actions in its prompt does.

Brain AI, Super Agents, And MCP

Brain AI is the assistant and context layer. It can answer questions with workspace context, draft content, create tasks, summarize conversations, analyze spreadsheets, and work from tasks, docs, chats, wikis, connected apps, and user permissions.

Brain 2 adds the more agentic framing: persistent memory, personal preferences, workflow completion, slide/dashboard/prototype creation from real work data, Super Agent creation, multi-model support, external MCP server connections, deep research, and Gmail/Slack read-write-search support.

Super Agents are ClickUp’s AI coworkers. They can run workflows using tasks, docs, chat, meetings, schedules, connected tools, memory, and permissions. That is powerful, but it means rollout should include agent ownership, permission review, trigger testing, cost panels, and a shutdown path.

ClickUp MCP extends the workspace to external assistants. The public-beta MCP server is available on all plans and exposes tasks, lists, folders, docs, search, task management, custom fields, comments, chat, webhooks, and related API-backed capabilities. It can be useful for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Devin, Copilot Studio, Windsurf, Antigravity, and other clients, but buyers should start with read/search workflows before allowing write-heavy actions.

When To Pick ClickUp

• Tool consolidation is the goal. ClickUp makes most sense when tasks, docs, chat, dashboards, forms, goals, and automations are spread across too many tools.
• Work context matters to AI. Brain is more useful when the team’s actual work lives in ClickUp.
• Agencies need structured client delivery. Spaces, folders, lists, dashboards, docs, guest permissions, and proofing can support client workflows.
• Marketing ops needs one campaign surface. Briefs, content calendars, approvals, automations, AI writing, AI Notetaker, and dashboards can live together.
• The team can govern agents. Super Agents and MCP are worth exploring when admins can control permissions, cost, triggers, and review.

When To Pick Something Else

• Engineering-only issue tracking: Linear or GitHub Projects. They are faster and more opinionated.
• Doc-first knowledge work: Notion AI. It is cleaner when docs and wikis are the center.
• Simple task lists: Todoist, Things, or a lightweight project board. ClickUp is too much if you only need tasks.
• Visual operations boards: Monday.com. It is often easier for teams that want board-led operations and less hierarchy.
• Deep CRM or ITSM: HubSpot, Pipedrive, Jira Service Management, or ServiceNow. ClickUp can approximate these workflows, but specialists usually govern them better.

Watch-Outs

Feature sprawl is still real. ClickUp can do a lot, which means admins must decide what not to use.

AI is workspace-shaped. Brain works best when ClickUp has clean tasks, docs, chats, wikis, and permissions. Messy workspaces produce messy AI answers.

Agent permissions need review. Super Agents and MCP can perform useful actions, but only if the team controls who can create, trigger, and manage them.

AI credits can surprise teams. Super Agents, AI Fields, image generation, AI Assign/Prioritize, and other premium AI actions consume credits, and credits do not roll over.

Paid upgrades may be workspace-wide. Budget owners should confirm which add-ons and plan upgrades must apply to the entire Workspace before rolling out Brain or Everything AI.

MCP is public beta. Treat the first-party MCP server as promising but still beta. Start with low-risk search and task workflows, then test write actions with a small admin-owned group.

Migration lock-in is practical, not theoretical. Once tasks, docs, comments, dashboards, automations, and agents live in ClickUp, leaving requires a real migration project.
